One league, every district

KBA is a single badminton league that academies, clubs and district associations run their tournaments inside. One set of rankings, one player list, one place for a parent to enter any event — and every organiser is approved by the league before they can publish one.

How a player’s age is verified

Age-group events depend on ages being right, and a date of birth typed at a desk is the easiest thing in a tournament to get wrong. So it is checked once, by the government, not by us: the player (or their parent) confirms their date of birth through DigiLocker, the Government of India’s own document service, against the Aadhaar record. What comes back to us is the name and the date of birth, and a note that they were confirmed.

  • Once, for every tournament. A verified age is locked and counts across the whole league. Nobody can change it afterwards — not the parent, not an organiser.
  • One identity, one player. If the same Aadhaar is used to verify a second player record, the two are flagged as one person for the league to reconcile.
  • The Aadhaar number itself never reaches us. DigiLocker sends the name, date of birth and gender it holds, and the last four digits of the number — nothing more — and that is all we keep.
  • If the name on the record does not match the name entered, the verification is held for the league to review by hand rather than being silently accepted or refused.

Children and their data

  • Minors are never indexed. A player under 18 has a results page, but search engines are asked not to list it, and it is reachable only by its own link.
  • One account holds a family. A parent adds their children to their own account; children do not need logins of their own.
  • Public pages show what a draw sheet shows: a name, an age group, a score. Never a phone number, an email address or a date of birth.

How hosts are approved

An academy, club or association applies to host under KBA. The league approves each host before they can publish a tournament, and can suspend one. A host sets their own entry fee, receives it directly by UPI, and runs their own draws and scoring; the league keeps one set of rankings and one player list across all of them. Fees never pass through this site, so the organiser named on a tournament page is the only person who can change or refund an entry. See every approved academy and club, or browse by district.

How rankings are worked out

Points come from tournament results, per age group and division, on a scheme the league publishes. Every match a player completes counts, and a category needs enough results before it is ranked at all. Seeds in a draw are taken from those rankings, so a player’s results follow them from one tournament to the next. How do ranking points work?
